About Us

St Mary's has a Saxon foundation with medieval remnants, but was very heavily refurbished during the Victorian period.  It contains one of the largest medieval wall paintings in the country, telling the story of St Catherine of Alexandria.  There are also monuments to Horatio Nelson’s uncle and grandfather.  Eton College is the Lay Rector, and has recently funded the complete refurbishment of the chancel.

Since reopening, after roof repairs, on Easter Sunday 2017, there is a regular Eucharist on the 1st 2nd and 4th Sundays of the calendar month at 11:30am.  On the 3rd Sunday of the calendar month there is a united benefice service at Swaffham Parish Church at 9.30am
