The PCC are delighted to have recently secured £2,562.20 in Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding to refurbish the community hall.
The community hall, which had not been decorated in over a decade, had begun to show signs of wear and tear. Staff and regular attendees had noted the deteriorating condition, prompting the PCC to take action to breathe new life into the well-used space.
With the support of the CIL grant, the PCC has been able to purchase essential materials and equipment to revitalise the hall. The funding has also enabled us to invest in new chairs, significantly improving the comfort and overall experience for those who use the space.
The community hall hosts a wide variety of events and activities throughout the week, including CAMEO, a playgroup (including toddler garden), sports and exercise groups, as well as private hire. The refurbishment really enhances the environment for these existing groups while also attracting new users from the community.
“We are delighted with how the hall is looking,” said Rev’d Jenni. “It now provides a more welcoming space for everyone and opens the door for more groups and activities to be hosted here.”
The Community Infrastructure Levy is a charge applied by Sandwell Council on new developments in the area, with 15% of the collected funds allocated to support projects within the community. Grants of up to £5,000 are available to local groups, providing a valuable resource for community-driven improvements.
Thanks to this investment and those who have volunteered their time to help with the painting and decorating, the community hall is a bright and inviting hub for all ages to gather, socialise, and participate in different activities throughout the week.
