Rev'd Jenni Crewes elected to General Synod

We are delighted to share that our vicar, the Rev'd Jenni Crewes, has been elected to the General Synod of the Church of England, representing the Diocese of Birmingham in the House of Clergy.

Jenni is one of six representatives elected from Church of England Birmingham following elections held this autumn. The newly elected representatives will serve a five-year term, beginning with the inauguration of the 12th General Synod on 16–18 November 2026.

Jenni said:

"I am humbled and delighted to be elected, thank you to all who have encouraged and supported me to put myself forward. I am looking forward to serving in this role as I learn more and use my skills and experience to help shape the Church."

General Synod is the national assembly of the Church of England. It plays an important role in the life and governance of the Church, shaping and approving legislation, agreeing new forms of worship, debating significant issues facing the Church and approving its national budget.

Jenni will join five other representatives from the Diocese of Birmingham: Douglas Machiridza and Katie Stock in the House of Clergy, and Dawn Brathwaite, Rachel Jepson and Matthew Vaughan in the House of Laity.

Bishop Michael has encouraged people across the diocese to pray for those elected as they prepare to take up their new responsibilities.

He said:

“Our six new General Synod representatives will play a crucial role in the governance of the Church of England.

“I pray that God would equip each of them with wisdom, discernment and courage as they begin this important ministry.”

We congratulate Jenni on her election and invite our church community to hold her in prayer as she prepares for this new responsibility, alongside her ongoing ministry in our parish.
