Sea Sunday is a moment each year when churches around the world come together to pray for seafarers, give thanks for their vital work, and support The Mission to Seafarers’ life‑changing frontline ministry.

Seafarers are essential to everyday life, yet many work unseen, facing long periods away from home, isolation, and often dangerous conditions. Sea Sunday offers churches the opportunity to pause, reflect, and respond — standing alongside the men and women who keep our world moving.

Together, let’s pray, give thanks, and raise vital funds to support seafarers facing tough and often lonely conditions.

The next Fairtrade stall will be available after the service on 12 July. Pam sells food items including tea and coffee, gifts and cards. She accepts cash and card payments.

Supporting Fairtrade helps ensure that farmers and producers receive a fair price for their work, enabling them to improve their livelihoods and invest in their communities.

SeaVenturers is an exciting new programme from Sea Cadets, designed to bring confidence-boosting, nautical-themed adventures to even more young people.

We invite all young people in school years 7-11 to our monthly youth group! Come along for an evening filled with food, creative activities, engaging conversations, and fun games. We meet in the hall where we explore what we think about the world together and enjoy each other’s company. All our leaders are DBS checked.

Join us for Tuesday Morning Prayer

Everyone is warmly welcome to gather with us on Tuesdays in the choir vestry (please enter through the back door). We share in Morning Prayer from Common Worship and enjoy a relaxed time for open reflection and discussion on the day’s readings, along with extemporary prayer. It’s a lovely chance to connect, reflect, and support one another in faith.

From birth to 13 months old, Baby Sensory classes create calm, joyful moments for you and your little one. Join us for a peaceful midweek Holy Communion service. Held on most Wednesdays, though occasionally, a traditional service of Morning Prayer may be held instead. This peaceful gathering, using Common Worship, offers a time for reflection and spiritual renewal. Whether you're seeking a moment of calm or a deeper connection, you are welcome to join us.

Breathing Space is a time to practise the ancient Christian tradition of contemplative silent prayer. It is an invitation to simply be present with God. To discover God’s peace in a noisy world. And when we are at peace we might create ripples of peace in the world around us.

Breathing Space is open to all who are seeking peace, and who long for a deeper connection with God and with others.

The gathering will be held in the vestry. Please enter the church through the back door in the car park. You don’t have to come every time, just come when you can. If you want to know more please speak to Fran.

Everyone is welcome to our Sunday morning service, where we gather as a community to share in worship and fellowship. During the service, we celebrate Holy Communion, a sacred time when we come together to remember Jesus’ love and sacrifice. It’s a moment for reflection, gratitude, and connection, as we share bread and wine as a symbol of our faith.

After the service, you’re warmly invited to stay for refreshments - a chance to enjoy conversations and catch up with others in our church family.

The Big Butterfly Count is a nationwide citizen science survey designed to help assess the health of our environment. Launched in 2010, it has quickly become the world’s largest butterfly survey.

After the service, all are warmly invited to spend 15 minutes helping to count butterflies in the church gardens. Alternatively, you’re very welcome to take part at home at your convenience — the event runs from 17th July to 9th August.

All welcome! We usually share some snacks and look at scriptures from the Hebrew Bible, New Testament and Qur’an, sharing thoughts, questions and ideas. The group is open to anyone – you don’t need to be an expert or scholar! For more information please ask Jenni.

This free concert is offered in partnership with the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Light refreshments are available after each concert, and there is usually an opportunity to talk with the performer(s). The concerts are free, but donations for church funds are welcome.

A fun-filled adventure for all the family. Step inside our magical inflatable theatre and be transported to the faraway shores of Cape Custard.

Performances at 11am, 12:30pm and 2pm and last 30 minutes.

'Cape Custard - A Lighthouse Adventure' is a thrilling, fun-filled quest where our heroes discover that the toughest repairs aren’t always mechanical. It’s a bright, bold, and heartwarming story about bridging the gap with those who feel different, and discovering what truly matters.

This adventurous tale is inspired by the production of lighthouses at Chance Brothers Glassworks in the heart of Smethwick. The factory pioneered the development of lenses that continue to save lives on treacherous seas the world over, from the Cornish coast to Hawaii, and Karachi to Zanzibar.

From spring through autumn, we invite volunteers to help tend the church front gardens on the first Saturday of each month, weather permitting. Whether you're an experienced gardener or just curious to give it a try, you’re warmly welcome to join us for all or part of a session! Some bring their own tools, while others use those we provide at the church—either way, your help makes a difference.

Our neighbouring church, St Mary’s, Bearwood, hosts a monthly Repair Café, usually on the first Saturday of the month. Their skilled repair team is ready to help fix any items you bring, saving the environment, one repair at a time!

St John's Harborne also have a Repair Cafe, usually every second and fourth Saturday in the month. Please do check each church's website before attending in case dates and times change.

Put on your gloves and join us for litter picking as we follow the parish boundary, helping to make our community cleaner and greener. Come along and make a difference! We'll be meeting outside the Abbey pub and heading up Abbey Road and then, depending how far we get on Abbey Road in the hour, along Barclay Road.

We have a limited number of litter pickers and high vis vests available, bring your own if you have them. Please bring gloves!

Join us for Friendship Club on the second Friday of every month at 5.30pm. This is a warm and welcoming space open to everyone – whether you’re coming along for the first time or are a regular visitor. Enjoy an evening of food, friendly conversation, and community connection.

Join us for a special Bat Night as we celebrate International Bat Night! Spend a relaxed and enjoyable hour together in our church gardens, watching for bats as they emerge at dusk and learning more about these fascinating creatures.

There will be a bat-themed quiz, activities and refreshments.

As an Eco Church, we are keen to encourage and protect bats. Bats play a vital role in our local environment by helping to control insects and contributing to a healthy ecosystem. Our church grounds can provide valuable habitat for wildlife, and this event is a chance to discover how we can care for nature right on our doorstep.

Everyone is welcome – come along and see what takes flight after dark!

Join us on the second Friday of the month from 9:30 to 11:15am for a delightful monthly art and nature playgroup, specially designed for families with children aged 0-7 years. Supported by Arts Council England, this is a wonderful opportunity for little ones to explore their creativity and connect with nature in a fun, nurturing environment.

The service will be sung by Andromeda, a vocal consort from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, directed by Jessica Johnson, accompanied by their organist.

Choral Evensong offers a reflective and uplifting service of scripture, prayer and beautiful choral singing. Whether you are a regular worshipper, a lover of choral music, or simply curious, all are very welcome.
