St Mary Newington (@KENNINGTON TUBE)

St Mary's has been a centre of worship and community life for approximately 900 years. Today our congregation represents the racial and cultural diversity of people living in the area around Kennington, Newington and Elephant and Castle. We are growing in numbers and depth of faith and aim to welcome all. We are affirming of the ministry of women and of LGBTQ+ people. We worship in the catholic tradition of the Church of England (sometimes referred to as High Church). We aim to worship God in the beauty of holiness with wonderful music and ceremony, while at the same time nurturing a friendly and non-pretentious atmosphere. In September 2024 we began a new music project and now have a community choir, children's choir and quartet of professional grade scholars.
