About Us

The worship at St Michael's is joyful and dignified within a broad catholic tradition, offering superb liturgy, silence and the beauty of music as key components of its spirituality. We are immensely proud of our strong choral tradition − St Michael’s has a reputation for having one of the finest church choirs in Hampshire.

Our main Sunday Eucharist is at 10am, with an 'All Age’ Eucharist on the 1st Sunday of the month, and Choral Eucharist on the 4th Sunday. Choral Evensong is sung at 6.30pm on the 2nd and 4th Sundays.  Morning Prayer every weekday morning (except Tuesdays) at 9am in the Lady Chapel at St Michael and All Angels.  Every Thursday there is a Eucharist at 9.30am in the Lady Chapel at St Michael and All Angels.  This is a simple service with no hymns or sermon.  On the last Friday of each month (except August and December) there is a Taize service, using the simple but very beautiful meditative music from the Taize region.  Occasionally services may vary, please see our calendar at http://nsab.org.uk/parish-calendar/ for up to date information.

Whilst most of the services are quite traditional, the atmosphere at St Michael’s is friendly and relaxed, and we extend an especially warm welcome to visitors, young families and students from the nearby University of Southampton.
