Welcome to the website of St John the Baptist, Cockayne Hatley. 

We are a small group of people who seek to serve God's mission both as a parish church to the village of Cockayne Hatley and increasingly as a 'thin space' for people to visit for quiet days, study days, retreat days and concerts. You can find out more about us by exploring the pages listed on the left of this webpage or using the menu button in the top right.

Taize service

for 1 hour

For 2025 we offer a regular programme of Taizé services on the third Sunday of the month; dates for the remainder of the year are 17 August, 21 September and 19 October. All services start at 5:30pm.

Taizé Prayer is evening prayer for all Christian faiths. It is a simple, meditative form of worship, calling us to dwell deeply on Christ's presence. Mantra songs, prayerful silence, and short readings guide the focus of the prayer. The peaceful setting of St John the Baptist offers an ideal environment for the service.
