College Green Bristol, BS1 5TJ, United Kingdom

The Rev’d Ally Barret will be leading us in a series of reflections on four of her paintings based on the theme of Imagining the Journey to the Cross:
The Hen, The Women of Jerusalem, Veronica and Mary.

Ally is an ordained priest with two decades of experience, who uses painting as both a personal expression and a way of exploring ideas and stories. Her artwork enables her to delve into theological and spiritual narratives that words alone may struggle to portray.
Ally also channels her creativity into hymn writing, using both her hymns and paintings as a tool to address often overlooked themes.
There will be time for quiet reflection and prayer after each talk and the opportunity to attend the 12.30pm Eucharist.
Join us from 9.30am onwards for refreshments.
Drinks will be provided throughout but please bring your own lunch.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Quiet Day.

Liturgy of the Last Supper

Occuring
for 1 hour, 30 mins
Venue
Bristol Cathedral
Address
College Green Bristol, BS1 5TJ, United Kingdom

All are welcome to this Choral Eucharist on Maundy Thursday, which recalls Jesus’ final night with his disciples and arrest in the garden of Gethsemane.

Maundy Thursday gets its name from the Latin word mandare meaning to command. We remember Jesus’ command: ‘Love one another as I have loved you’.

At the Last Supper Jesus washed the disciples’ feet and our service will include the symbolic ritual of foot washing. This is not only an important reminder of the nature of Jesus, who we serve, but also the kind of service we are meant to demonstrate in our love for one another.

The service is followed by the option to join us for the Night Watch which recalls how Jesus invited his apostles to stay with him while he prayed. It is extremely powerful to imagine being there with Jesus in the Garden as he prepares to sacrifice himself for our sins.
