Lent Quiet Day: Praying in Tune – Breath and Prayer

Join us at Bristol Cathedral for this year’s Lent Quiet Day, Praying in Tune – Breath and Prayer, led by Rev Dr Ian Bailey, a member of the Cathedral congregation.

Since retiring in 2009, Ian has tutored Exploring Christianity and served as a Spiritual Director to many. Drawing on this experience, he will guide us in exploring the connection between the body, breathing, and prayer.

The day will include two sessions. The first will focus on how we can align our breathing to support and deepen our prayer. The second will reflect on the teaching of the great Christian mystics, including Julian of Norwich, particularly in relation to silent prayer.

This will be a practical and encouraging day, inviting you to “give it a go” and offering simple tools to enrich your own prayer life. There will be space for stillness, reflection, and gentle guidance as we journey through Lent together.

All are welcome, whether you are new to Quiet Days or familiar with this pattern of prayer.
