A triumphant return for a magnificent instrument.

Following an 18-month restoration, the organ of Bristol Cathedral is unveiled in all its renewed splendour with a landmark performance by internationally acclaimed organist David Briggs. This special concert honours the Harry Crook Foundation, whose generous support made the organ’s refurbishment possible.

Celebrated worldwide for his virtuosity, expressive depth, and imaginative transcriptions, David Briggs brings five centuries of music vividly to life—revealing the full power, colour, and versatility of the Cathedral’s newly restored organ. A master improviser and captivating storyteller, he transforms each performance into a rich, immersive experience.

Having performed at iconic venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Notre-Dame Paris, Berlin Philharmonie, and King’s College, Cambridge, and as Artist-in-Residence at New York’s Cathedral of St John the Divine, Briggs offers an evening of exceptional artistry at the highest level.

Audiences can expect a dynamic programme of masterworks—from Bach to Dupré—alongside Briggs’ own compositions and a thrilling live improvisation on a theme revealed in the moment. Every note promises brilliance, drama, and musical discovery.
