Church of England Diocese of St.Albans Parish of Old Letchworth

St Mary the Virgin

Welcome to St Mary's, Letchworth Lane.

St Mary's is the oldest building in Letchworth and it lies at the heart of the original hamlet of Letchworth. Parts of this medieval church date back to the eleventh century. It is built on the site of an earlier church. It is also one of the smallest churches in the area. It is surrounded by a small but beautiful church yard, where there is also a Garden of Remembrance with a bench for those who want to sit quietly.

The church is open for worship each Wednesday and Sunday morning and we pray in the traditional language. Lots of the Garden City pioneers had a lifelong association with St Mary’s and are at eternal rest there. We also have a very faithful and welcoming congregation with long established family connections.

Come and join us in prayer and friendship.
