We are a lively, welcoming Church in the beautiful village of Pirton, near Hitchin. Services take place every week, normally on a Sunday at 11.00, and everyone is welcome. We also host 'messy Church' activities for kids and so much more!
St Mary's is a Norman village Church which is unusual for its simplicity and lack of stained glass. This was the result of war-time doodle bug which shattered almost all the old glass. The village of Pirton is situated on slopes of the Chiltern Hills on a loop off the Icknield Way and is a popular starting point for walkers.
In October 2009 we completed the transformation of the South Transept which now provides an Upper Room with a wonderful view, and below it a kitchen, easy access toilet, and further meeting space. The organ has been moved to the West End of the nave and a new lighting scheme has been introduced.
