Church of England Diocese of St.Albans St. Mary Marshalswick, St. Albans

About Us

St Mary's is an Open Church - Open to God, Open to You

St Mary’s Church is situated in the north-east of St Albans at the junction of Sherwood Avenue and Marshalswick Lane. It was built in the mid 1950s and became a parish church in 1972 when it was consecrated by Bishop Robert Runcie.

The Parish is currently in vacancy (since October 2020).

St Mary's is a small church and during the pandemic we can only accommodate 45 safely-distanced seats for worship so if you wish to attend any of our services in church during the pandemic, it would be much appreciated if you would please email the church [email protected]

Our church is here to serve the community of Marshalswick. We are always pleased to explore the possibility of baptism, confirmation and marriage. We also offer a service of blessing to those married in a Registry Office, and are happy to discuss church weddings for those who have been married before. We are also here to help at difficult times, to offer prayers for those who are ill and to help with the planning and leading of funerals in church or at the Crematorium or Cemetery.
