This service begins in the same silence that was kept through the night. We hear the story of Jesus' crucifixion and death, with a sung Passion Gospel. A great cross, representing the cross on which Jesus suffered and died, becomes a symbol of the paradox of Good Friday: through an instrument of torture God brings healing and hope to all people.
