Just call us 'St John's'. We're the church in the valley in Markyate.
Our building is simple and we love it. Our love for God is straightforward and spiritual. We do our best to show our faith in our works: our parish pantry is for all in need. We try to spread love and peace in our favourite village, Markyate.
We are an inclusive church: that means that we welcome and involve everyone, of every age, race, background, language, ability and sexuality. This includes you.
Our parish of Markyate Street: St John the Baptist is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of St.Albans’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO Jacky Gurney on 01525 842525 or Rev Jo Burke on [email protected] or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor, Jeremy Hirst on 01727 818107 or [email protected]. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police on 999 and your local authority’s children social care (0300 123 4043) or adult social care services (0300 123 4042).
