Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent, a 40-day journey of reflection and preparation leading up to the celebration of Easter and Jesus’ resurrection. Christians across the world will mark the beginning of Lent by receiving a cross of ashes. It represents humility and hope.

When we receive the cross of ashes, we’re reminded that we aren't perfect, and we don't have to pretend to be. It’s a moment to hit the 'pause' button on the noise of life, admit our need for God, and remember that beauty can come from the dust.

Whether you’ve been to church a thousand times or never set foot in one, come and join your community for an Ash Wednesday service at St Barnabas church, here in Adeyfield, just off the Queen’s Square.

Starting at 9.30 am, we will have a short, reflective service with the opportunity to receive the cross of ashes for yourself.

So, come as you are and know that you are loved.
