Children & Families

Activities for children and young families at HT

We have really missed all the children during the pandemic and the life they bring to the church and we are looking forward to welcoming them back to our new autumn schedule.

Toddler Church restarts on Thursday 9th September, from 10am to 11.15am. This is part playgroup, and part very simple worship. You are welcome to drop in occasionally or come regularly, and you will be made very welcome. It's appropriate for babies from birth right up until they go to nursery, and it's a great way for parents and carers to make friends too. Term time only.

Junior Church is our Sunday School and takes place during the 10 o'clock Sunday service. Children start with their parents in church and after about 10 minutes go out together for their own teaching, games, craft and chats. They return together at the end of the service to receive a blessing (or Communion if they've been prepared for that). It's suitable for children aged 3 up, and parents are welcome to join them until they're settled happily. JC starts again on Sunday 5th September.

Children's corner. If you have younger children in church on Sunday mornings, you're welcome to sit with them in the children's corner, where there are books, toys, puzzles and colouring. And there are colouring boxes which they can take to the pew if you prefer.

Children's Praise. We recognise that Sunday morning has many pressures in a busy family life so once a term we have an afternoon service for tots and primary children. It's a great stepping stone for children who have left Toddler Church but don't want to lose touch with church. This really is a light-hearted, fun half hour of action songs and story, led very informally and there is no chance of sitting quietly and still! We usually have a cuppa afterwards, so a nice chance for families to mix. Our next Children's Praise is on Sunday 10th October at 3pm.

TYG - The Youth Group. This group meets once a month on the 3rd Sunday of the month, from 6pm-7.30pm. The first meeting of term is on September 19th. It's for children from Year 6 up. They play games, have quizzes and discussions, and usually share pizzas during the evening.

All age services. During the pandemic we've only been able to offer standard Communion services led by a priest alone, because of distancing etc. But our previous pattern of monthly services more appropriate for children and families will resume, starting with our Harvest Festival service on 3rd October at 10am. It's not always the first Sunday of the month, but depends when festivals fall, so keep an eye on our publicity for further events.

Family fun. There will be other opportunities to socialise with other families - perhaps games afternoons, walks etc. If you have ideas, or would be happy to lead on something, please get in touch.

Whatever you choose to come to, we'll be delighted to see you and you will be made very welcome.

We are still advising the wearing of masks in church, and are being very careful over hygiene, distancing etc.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with the Vicar, and she can put you in touch with group leaders. Or why not follow our facebook page:
