Our appeal this year is to support the work of John and Gillian, who work in the slums of Bangkok. Donations can be made to any of our churches’ bank accounts, or given to one of our treasurers.The collection in All Saints this Sunday will be for the appeal.Midweek Music at St Mary’s:The midweek lunchtime concerts restart this coming Wednesday, 23rd September and this month’s will be given by the local professional violinist, Jo West, accompanied by Michael Smith on the piano. As usual there will be refreshments from 11.30 and the concert starts at 12.30 for about 30-40minutes. This is a great opportunity to support local musicians and entry is free. Any donations are shared between all three churches in the Benefice. It is open to anyone who has not been on holiday for over 3 years due to health, financial problems, bereavement, family reasons or situations beyond their control and who cannot afford a vacation. MU will arrange & pay for accommodation and/or transport, depending on the family's circumstances. The family will need a recommendation from a vicar, head teacher, social worker or doctor. The funds have been returned in full, but we are reminded to check our statements regularly and report any strange activity. Instead of a conventional sermon, we will be using a Good Book Company study guide to reflect on Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. All are welcome. We will meet on Sunday afternoons, from 2.00 until around 3.30. Please speak to Caroline if you would like more information.Holiday Bible Club 24th – 27th August ‘God’s People and the Temple of the Rising Son’:Bookings are very strong and we are still looking for people to join the team of helpers. You don’t need to lead the teaching; help with crafts and making sure the children are where they need to be is really helpful too. The club runs from 10 – 3 each day; we meet for briefing and prayer at 9.30 each morning. In addition to the all day volunteers, we need a few chaperones to help accompany the children to Burrs Meadow to eat their packed lunches. If you could spare an hour at lunchtime on any of the days to help, please speak to Caroline.While the Holiday Bible Club is running, the church will be locked when we’re not in there. If you need access, please speak to Caroline.Picnic at St Catherine’s 30th August:You are invited to bring a picnic lunch to eat in the churchyard at St Catherine’s after the service there on 30th August.
