We are delighted to announce that St Mary’s Church in Aspenden will hold its annual Christmas Tree Festival again this year.
Over the weekend of Saturday 12th to Sunday 13th December, the church will be transformed into a magical forest of twinkling Christmas trees.
We have been thrilled at the support we have received by local community groups, schools and businesses. Though we have also had many individual people create a Christmas Tree for display. Why not have a go yourself? These last two years we have had several hundred people coming to the church to visit the tree festival and expect this to continue to grow this year.
It is amazing to see the creativity and fun behind these trees. We have seen trees made entirely of recycled materials, knitted trees, a tree created of stacked presents, a tree made of books, and local shops making a festive tree to promote their business. Those who have created trees have aged from tots to our elders in the community.
It has been a real community effort and an opportunity to bring people together. We couldn’t do this without our volunteers organising behind the scenes and over the course of the weekend. If you think you could help too, we’d be grateful to hear from you.
There is no admission fee to the Tree Festival to ensure everyone can come along and feel the Christmas joy! We are grateful to accept any donations, and these will go to the upkeep of St Mary’s Church.
We hope everyone will be able to come along and enjoy the festive ambiance, be inspired by the creativity, catch up with friends over a cuppa and a slice of cake.
