Living God, draw us deeper into your love;
Jesus our Lord, send us to care and serve;
Holy Spirit, make us heralds of good news.
Stir us, strengthen us, teach and inspire us
To live your love with generosity and joy,
Imagination and courage;

UPCOMING EVENTS

There are a number of events coming up over the next few months to look forward to.

20th June 7.30 pm - Hymns & Pimm's

21st June 7.30 pm - Saxophone Quartet : Music for a Midsummer Evening

22nd June 5 pm - Come and Sing choral evensong

(2 pm for participants)

The Events Committee would appreciate your support, as we'll need donations of scones, cakes, books, as well as your time to sort books and man stalls. There will be a sign-up sheet at the back of church to register help for the book fayre. Thanks in advance. Ruth Savage

BOOK FAYRE: The total figure all in is just short of £1750. That includes books, refreshments, cakes and Hook a Duck - but it doesn't include Chris' tomato plants.

That's a really good result. Well done to everyone involved! A great amount to go to church funds. Thank you to everyone for all your hard work. It was also lovely to see the church full of people - browsing the books, sitting and chatting in the warm over tea and coffee, and just being generally in church. A good event all round.

CHRISTIAN AID: Is from 11th to 17th May. Envelopes, including Gift Aid slips, are at he back of Church. Please fill and pop into the black safe in the pillar. Thank you

FUNDRAISING EVENT:

Christina O’Sullivans daughters Mary and Rita, are doing the pretty muddy obstacle course in Welwyn on the 17th May. It is 5km of obstacles so they have been training out in Bassingbourn to get ready.

A link for the fundraising page for Mary and Rita follows:

https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/marys-race-for-life-32746570575

Mary explains in the video that they are doing it in aid of Cancer Research UK in memory of their grandma who died of pancreatic cancer. They had Christina’s mum live with them while she underwent chemo too. Mary has been planning this for 9 months. Any help will be appreciated. They are doing so well, Mary's original target was £75 and with gift aid they are at £650! Thank you.

FEEDBACK ABOUT SERVICES DURING HOLY WEEK
We had many services during Holy Week this year and it would be useful to know if and how these helped you on your spiritual journey. There are feedback forms at the back of church and a box where you can post them anonymously. Please take a couple of minutes to complete a form, even if you did not attend any of the services.

TOMATO PLANTS: On Saturday 3rd May, Chris Wallis will have tomato plants for sale outside (or inside if wet) Church. Can we ask please, that you bring your own bags to take the plants home? A large selection of different varieties available. All proceeds to church funds. Thank you for your support.

FIRST COMMUNION AND CONFIRMATION: This will take place during our 10.30am service on Sunday 22nd June. If you are interested in either being confirmed or your child is interested in receiving communion and have not yet been prepared for this then please let Steven know by the end of April.

SUNDAY READING SHEET 11th May 2025 EASTER 4

A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles

Now in Joppa there was a disciple whose name was Tabitha, which in Greek is Dorcas. She was devoted to good works and acts of charity. At that time she became ill and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in a room upstairs. Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, who heard that Peter was there, sent two men to him with the request, ‘Please come to us without delay.’ So Peter got up and went with them; and when he arrived, they took him to the room upstairs. All the widows stood beside him, weeping and showing tunics and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was with them. Peter put all of them outside, and then he knelt down and prayed. He turned to the body and said, ‘Tabitha, get up.’ Then she opened her eyes, and seeing Peter, she sat up. He gave her his hand and helped her up. Then calling the saints and widows, he showed her to be alive. This became known throughout Joppa, and many believed in the Lord. Meanwhile he stayed in Joppa for some time with a certain Simon, a tanner. Acts 9:36-43

GOSPEL

At that time the festival of the Dedication took place in Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple, in the portico of Solomon. So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, ‘How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.’ Jesus answered, ‘I have told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name testify to me; but you do not believe, because you do not belong to my sheep. My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. What my Father has given me is greater than all else, and no one can snatch it out of the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.’

John 10:22-30
