We’re happy to introduce Jenny, our Parish Nurse.
Parish nursing brings professional care, health advice, and support right into our community. It’s based on the idea that health is more than just what happens to our bodies. Our physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being are all linked.
Jenny is here to listen, offer practical help, and give professional health advice. She can help people find the support and services they need.
What is a Parish Nurse?
A Parish Nurse is a Registered Nurse who works with a church and its local community. They combine professional healthcare knowledge with the Christian tradition of caring for others.
Parish nurses care for the whole person, recognising that physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being all matter. They provide health advice, help people find local services, spot concerns early, and support those who may not know where to turn.
Parish nursing is open to everyone, whether you have a faith or not.
Parish nursing does not replace your GP, NHS services, or other healthcare professionals. It adds extra support alongside these services, helping people connect with the care and resources they need.
How can Jenny help?
Jenny, our Parish Nurse, can help with things like:
· General health and wellbeing advice
· Supporting you to think about your physical and emotional wellbeing
· Helping you understand and access local health and community services
· Signposting and referrals to appropriate organisations and support
· Health education and promotion
· Supporting people who feel isolated or are unsure where to turn
· Listening and offering kind, non-judgemental support
· Working with others in the community and the church to support wellbeing
Sometimes, people need someone to listen. Parish nursing is about being there for people and supporting them through life’s ups and downs.
A ministry of presence
The heart of parish nursing is simple: people matter.
Our churches are places where people gather at every stage of life, whether in times of joy, uncertainty, illness, loss, or change. Jenny’s role helps us welcome people beyond our worshipping community and into the wider parish.
