About Us
St Thomas Becket Church is an Anglican Church in the Church of England Diocese in Europe.
The parish has existed since 1612, the Anglican church being one of the first non-Lutheran churches to be permitted to establish itself in Hamburg as a concession to the Merchant Adventurers - the English traders guild in the City. The present church building, neo-classical in style, has existed since 1838.
Today the Church has some 100 regular worshippers of all ages and many nationalities. The congregation includes many Germans, who one way or another have found themselves to feel at home in the Anglican tradition. The Parish Eucharist (Anglikanische Messe) is held every Sunday at 10.30. Choral evensong is also held regularly. We aim to be inclusive and ecumenical in approach and practice. People of all nationalities and denominations are welcome to our services and other activities.
