About Us

The style of worship at Church of The Cross is informal, hopefully accessible, and can be broadly described as evangelical. This means that the preaching of the Bible is central to what we do, but not to the exclusion of other important acts of worship. We aim to have a balanced service where preaching, singing, worship and prayer all play a part.

We believe in the Triune God, Father, Son & Holy Spirit, who is alive and active today, transforming broken lives, healing wounded hearts, and richly blessing those who choose to love and walk with Him. We believe in a God who hears and answers prayer, and so we will always be willing to pray with and for you, looking for God’s answer and blessing to come. And naturally, being called Church of The Cross, central to all of this is Jesus Christ, and the preaching of His life, death, resurrection and ascension.

We also believe in having fun, and so fellowship and laughter is (hopefully!) a regular part of our times together.

We start at 10.30am, and the service lasts about 75 minutes, followed by tea and coffee. In the service we will have:

– Songs of worship.

– Times of prayer.

– A time of testimony to share with each other what God has been doing.

– The reading of the Bible.

– A 15-20 minute talk, based on the Bible reading.

– At the end of each service prayer is offered for anybody who wishes it.

Every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month are groups for children aged under 11.

Every 2nd and 4th Sunday are groups for 11-18 year olds.

(Children and youth all stay in for the first half of the service, for the sung worship, only going out afterwards.)
