Getting here

The Anglican Chaplaincy of St Andrew, Costa del Sol (East)

The Chaplaincy of St Andrew is centred in the resort town of Fuengirola and extends  westwards beyond La Cala de Mijas to Calahonda taking in several housing developments, it also and draws people over from Benalmadena to the East. It forms a coastal strip some 36 kilometres long and extends inland for perhaps 10 kilometres to Alhaurin El Grande and its surroundings. There is a  dual carriageway along  the coast, and a motorway linking Málaga with Estepona in the west. Gibraltar is about an hour’s drive while Málaga airport is about 30 minutes by motorway from Los Boliches or 40 minutes from Los Boliches train station. Flight times to UK are around 3 hours. There is an excellent local rail service to Málaga where inter-city connections can be made to the rest of Spain. Bus services between Benalmadena and Fuengirola are frequent and cheap, (alight at the Corte Ingles shop, or at the Los Boliches railway station station). The church of St Andrew is located on  the main street close to the railway station.

Church Life

Holy Communion is celebrated at all our centres throughout the month on Sundays; at  both St Andrew’s, Los Boliches and the  Cemetery Chapel of Alhaurin el Grande at 11:30am, while  in Calahonda's San Miguel Church at 9:30am. When services are conducted in any of the centres when there is not a Holy Communion held Common Worship Morning Prayer is conducted by a Lay Assistant or Reader.

Midweek Holy Communion is held at 10.30am every Wednesday at St Andrews, Los Boliches

We have a resident body of worshippers, but we also welcome holiday makers and short stay owners. The main church building, in Los Boliches  is owned by the Chaplaincy and is situated on the ground floor of an apartment block. It is a multi-purpose hall , thus permitting secular use of the hall. This flexibility facilitates letting the hall to other organisations thus providing an essential source of income. The hall is also used for the Chaplaincy's weekly Coffee Morning which as well as generating income provides social activities. We publish a regular Newsletter on-line, plus a weekly pew sheet for each congregation which gives the weekly notices and the Collect and Readings for that Sunday. ————————————————————————————————————————
