St Mary, Honeychurch

Welcome to St Mary's Honeychurch.  At 3pm on the first Sunday of every month throughout the year, we gather at St Mary's for Evensong followed by Holy Communion.  You are warmly welcome to join us.

We are committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Exeter’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.

About the speakers:
Sue Andrew: with a long interested in our parish churches, Sue completed a thesis on 'Late Medieval Roof Bosses in the Churches of Devon' at Plymouth University in 2011 - a project which involved visiting hundreds of church buildings in Devon and elsewhere. Sue is especially interested in trying to understand the changes that have been wrought on these buildings over hundreds of years and what that meant to the people of the community who worshipped in and cared for them. Sue's talk will focus on the changes at Honeychurch - from those which had such a devastating local effect in the sixteenth century to more recent changes in the early twentieth century.

Mike Kelly: A Chartered Surveyor with a particular interest in ancient buildings, Mike is a Director of the Devon Historic Buildings Trust and a Trustee of the Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon and a Trustee of the North Devon Athenaeum. Mike will look at the characteristics of Devon churches with a particular focus on the features that make Honeychurch so special.
