St Clements Hope Cove
Located in a prominent position above Hope Cove, St Clement’s is a Chapel of Ease, built on land donated by the 11th Earl of Devon. It opened in 1861 and for a short time, also served as a school.
St Clement became the Patron Saint of Tanners and Mariners and is celebrated annually on 23rd November. Born a Jew he converted to Christianity and was a disciple of St Peter and St Paul. So successful was his conversion of people to the Christian faith he was bound to an anchor by the Romans and thrown into the sea.
Our little church of St Clement’s is open most days for residents and visitors alike to find rest and an opportunity for private prayer.
A family-friendly service is held on the first Sunday of the month at 10.00am. This is a relaxed service suitable for all ages and typically includes communion. Little people and four-legged friends welcome!
