Reverse Advent Campaign 2025 – Launching Today! This year, instead of building a tree of donations for the Christmas Tree Festival, we’re inviting you to take part in something a little different – and fun!How it works: Follow the calendar below and add one item each day for 24 days to a bag for life. Once your bag is full, drop it off at one of our collection points in early December, or: Bring it to the Book Sale on Saturday 29th November Drop it into the Church or Chapel – there’s a box at the rear of each building marked ‘Harbour Donations’ Ways to get involved: Join up with family or friends to fill a bag together Take part as a club, class, singing group, or sports team Share the idea and encourage others to join in! It’s a simple, meaningful way to support your neighbours, town, and local community this Christmas.Let’s spread the word and fill as many Reverse Advent bags as we can to help those in need!– Harbour Project
New Treasurer Needed from January 2026 Could you volunteer to be our new treasurer? We would love someone to start training soon, but by the beginning of January 2026 at the latest. Our current treasurer will be stepping down as our Treasurer at the next AGM in April. You do not need to have been a treasurer of an organisation before. Though as a charity trustee, the treasurer must meet the requirements set by the Charity Commissioners. You would become an ex-officio member of the PCC (Parochial Church Council). Although you can be on the PCC aged 16 and over, the age requirement for a treasurer is 18 years old and over. The Treasurer doesn’t necessarily have to be a member of the PCC; they will need to attend PCC meetings and work with the wider church community. The Diocese of Exeter offers some training to new treasurers, and a good handover from our current treasurer will cover much of what a new treasurer will need to know. The key responsibilities are as follows. · Record all financial transactions carried out on behalf of the PCC and ensure they are properly authorised. · Monitor the PCC’s finances throughout the year and alert the PCC if any difficulties are likely. · Submit the annual accounts to our external examiner for checking. · Complete gift aid annual claims · Present the examined annual accounts to the PCC and subsequently to the Annual Parochial Church Meeting. Send a copy to the Diocese and complete the national financial information return. · A DBS check will be required for the successful person. Please get in touch with Neil neil@leonardaccountants.co.uk if you would like to find out more about becoming our treasurer.
The annual Youth Club summer outing to North Devon Wake Park last Friday was a resounding success, filled with wet and bouncing fun! It was a truly glorious evening for everyone involved. A huge thank you goes out to James Cann and Sarah Appleton for being such good sports and participating wholeheartedly. It's safe to say they got a fantastic workout! After collapsing on the ground post-session, James Cann quipped, "They have all got so much bigger." We're not entirely sure if he'll be volunteering for next year, but his enthusiasm was certainly appreciated!
