New Treasurer Needed from January 2026

New Treasurer Needed from January 2026

Could you volunteer to be our new treasurer? We would love someone to start training soon, but by the beginning of January 2026 at the latest.

Our current treasurer will be stepping down as our Treasurer at the next AGM in April.

You do not need to have been a treasurer of an organisation before. Though as a charity trustee, the treasurer must meet the requirements set by the Charity Commissioners.

You would become an ex-officio member of the PCC (Parochial Church Council). Although you can be on the PCC aged 16 and over, the age requirement for a treasurer is 18 years old and over. The Treasurer doesn’t necessarily have to be a member of the PCC; they will need to attend PCC meetings and work with the wider church community.

The Diocese of Exeter offers some training to new treasurers, and a good handover from our current treasurer will cover much of what a new treasurer will need to know.

The key responsibilities are as follows.

· Record all financial transactions carried out on behalf of the PCC and ensure they are properly authorised.

· Monitor the PCC’s finances throughout the year and alert the PCC if any difficulties are likely.

· Submit the annual accounts to our external examiner for checking.

· Complete gift aid annual claims

· Present the examined annual accounts to the PCC and subsequently to the Annual Parochial Church Meeting. Send a copy to the Diocese and complete the national financial information return.

· A DBS check will be required for the successful person.

Please get in touch with Neil [email protected] if you would like to find out more about becoming our treasurer.
