<br><a></a>The youth club was abuzz with excitement as they gathered around counter in the kitchen, eager to embark on a culinary adventure. Today's mission: to conquer the art of pancake making.Amidst laughter and friendly banter, they rolled up their sleeves and dived into the task at hand. One by one, they took turns pouring the batter onto the crepe maker or some were brave and tried their hand at flipping them from the pan! They slathered them with lemon, honey, maple syrup chocolate sauce, drizzled them with syrup, and sprinkled them with a variety of toppings. Once their bellies were full and their taste buds satisfied, the group tackled another challenge: washing their own dishes! The pancake-making session was a host of fun for all.Thank you to our parents on duty for overseeing all of their efforts.
We are delighted to announce a vibrant Seed Swap, family-friendly Pokémon Meet-up, and a popular Book Sale, all taking place on Saturday, March 28th, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at All Hallows Church, Woolsery.This exciting event promises something for everyone, from avid gardeners to young Pokémon enthusiasts and bookworms. Participants are encouraged to bring along their surplus seeds to swap with fellow enthusiasts, fostering a culture of sharing and sustainable gardening.A special highlight of the Seed Swap will be the giveaway of heritage Asparagus Kale seeds from Torridge Growing Together, a unique and nutritious variety, encouraging residents to try something new in their gardens.This month’s seed swap, the event welcomes special guests, Torridge Growing Together, a local community group dedicated to tackling social isolation, food poverty and both mental and Physical health problems through growing food and making things together in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way. We are inviting you all along to come and learn more about this local imitative and support the group.They will be showcasing and selling a delightful array of handcrafted items, including terracotta pots brimming with houseplants, unique upcycled crafts, charming wood slice coasters, hand-sewn creations, and beautifully decorated terracotta pots, jars, and bottles. Please note that Torridge Growing Together will accept cash only.To ensure a warm and welcoming atmosphere, complimentary tea and coffee, accompanied by biscuits, will be available for all attendees.Don't miss this chance to be part of a thriving community event. As the 80th anniversary of VE Day approaches this May, Woolsery Churches Together is calling on all knitters, crocheters, sewers and felters in the community to join a heartwarming project: creating handmade poppies for a commemorative display.We invite everyone, regardless of skill level, to participate in crafting beautiful poppies that will form a stunning tribute to the brave individuals who served during World War II. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with your community, share your skills, and honour a pivotal moment in history.Get Involved!Craft at Home or with Friends: Gather your yarn, hooks, needles, or felting supplies and create poppies at your own pace. Why not organise a small gathering with friends, enjoy tea and coffee, and craft together?Patterns: We have printed off Patterns from the RBL site and copies can be found at the Church/Chapel or on the community newsletter, or you may wish to use your own. We recommend that they be no bigger than 10cm in diameter ( we will not be measuring, just a rough guide)Drop-Off Points: Finished poppies can be dropped off at collection boxes located at All Hallows Church, Woolsery or Woolsery Methodist Chapel until the end of April.This will allow us ample time to assemble the display.Display: The completed poppy display will be unveiled during the first week of May, in time for the VE Day 80th anniversary celebrations.“This project is a beautiful way for our community to come together and remember the sacrifices made 80 years ago,”“Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or a beginner, your contribution will be greatly appreciated. Get ready for the seed swap event next Saturday, February 22nd! Doors open from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. We were recently thrilled to meet the Guest Speaker at Bradworthy Gardening Club Josh, Head Gardener from Woolsery Collective, he said he might even make an appearance and bring some donations! In addition to the seed swap, there will be a book sale, Pokemon meet up and free tea and coffee, plus a few plants for sale. Donations are welcome to support the work of the church and chapel.The book sales and Seed Swap event will be repeat again on the last Saturday of the Month the 29th March , 10am - 11.30am and this time we will have special guests from Torridge Growing Together, who will be happy to talk to everyone about their project and will bring a few items to sell for cash to help fund the vital work they do in conservation, community food growing, and help tackle issues such as food poverty, social isolation, helping people develop skills and be an organisation that people can develop friendships and trust.Website for further information can be found here: https://cagdevon.org.uk/ourgroups/torridge-growing-together/
