Dear Friends,

This week the Archdeacon’s visitations take place at which our Church Wardens are legally commissioned. The office of Church Warden is an ancient one, with considerable responsibility. I am deeply grateful to those across our Mission Community who hold this office, especially as a number of our churches have one person taking the responsibility that is designed to be shared by two Wardens. Please pray for them, not just this week, but regularly. I know many of you work very closely with them to support the running of your church, but if you have never thought of asking a Church Warden what you could do to help them – this might be the week to do it!

The Revd Giles King-Smith is our acting Archdeacon, a role which he has filled for longer than originally anticipated, and in which he has been a huge support through months which have been particularly demanding. Please pray for him as he completes his time in this ministry, and for the Revd Verena Breed as she prepares to move from the Oxford Diocese to take on this role (in September).

The Archdeacons are also leading a webinaire this week to guide us through the next step in the government’s road map that we reach on 19th July. I will let you know anything significant that we need to do at that point. I know a number of parishes are beginning to plan for events after that date – which I will advertise in these mail-outs once we know that what we anticipate can go ahead.

Growing Discipleship idea for this week: writing this week’s sermon reminded me that one of the things I most value about my faith is being able to come back to the steadiness of God and find my grounding in prayer, and faith’s guidance. I hope to be able to share that in how I am and what I say this week. Can you identify one thing that you really value about your faith, and find ways that you feel comfortable sharing that in how you are and what you say this week?

God bless

Samantha
