St Michael and All Angels

All are very welcome here.

We are a warm, friendly, and inclusive church in the heart of Great Torrington, rooted in the Catholic tradition of the Church of England. Set in beautiful North Devon, there has been a worshipping Christian community on this site since 1259, and we continue that life of prayer and worship today.

Our main Sunday service is the Parish Eucharist at 10.00am, with choir, procession, and incense. Whether you come every week or are just visiting, you will receive a warm welcome.

We also offer a quieter, said Mass on Wednesdays at 10.30am in St James’ Chapel.

Families and children are always welcome, and if you enjoy singing, we would love to hear from you about joining the choir.

After our Sunday service, we gather for tea and coffee—a chance to chat and get to know one another. On the last Saturday of each month, we host our now legendary Coffee Morning with American-style pancakes from 10.30am to 12 noon.

St Giles

Welcome to St Giles Church, Little Torrington, Devon.

St. Giles is a beautiful 15th century church, with a nave and south aisle separated by an unusual colonade of Lundy Island granite pillars, beautiful stained glass windows and many historic features. Its chamfered Norman font is believed unique in Britain. Read more about the church and its history under 'About Us'.

St. Giles is also available for community gatherings, group meetings and exhibitions, small recitals etc., and has an accessible toilet, small servery for refreshments, superb lighting and accoustics. Please 'Get in Touch' for details.

Weddings and other 'life celebratory' events are our speciality! Little Torrington is a 'picture postcard' village, with excellent family accommodation at Torridge House and nearby Smytham Manor, a lovely village hall with good catering available and plenty of parking. St Mary Magdalene

Welcome to St Mary Magdalene, Taddiport.

From Castle Hill in Torrington there is a fine view over the Torridge to the parish of Little Torrington. In the bottom of the valley, on the Little Torrington side, by a fine mediaeval bridge, is the hamlet of Taddiport. A little further upstream are two narrow strip fields, popularly known as "leper fields", all that remain of a larger number which were there in living memory.

The name Taddiport means "Toad-gate".

St Mary and St Gregory

Welcome to St Mary and St Gregory, Frithelstock.

WELCOME to Frithelstock Town and to the ancient Church dedicated to the Mother of our Lord and to the Pope who sent missionaries to convert our heathen forefathers to the Christian Faith and found the English Church.

The ruins at the north-eastern corner of the Church are all that is left of the Priory founded by Sir Robert de Bello Campo about the year 1220 and endowed for a small community of Augustinian Canons. His purpose was that there should be someone to pray for the repose of his soul for ever after his death. Bishop Walter de Stapledon who was born at Annery, the great house near Monkleigh, increased the endowments and is considered a co-founder with Sir Robert. The church building that still stands was probably built for the families of the Priory retainers and the inhabitants of the village which grew up nearby.
