Every Wednesday at 10am we gather in the Priest Room for a quiet Midweek Communion followed by refreshments and conversation. Rev Gill and Canon Tim take turns to lead, and every now and when they are not available our local lay minister (Reader) Richard leads a short service of Morning Prayer. It is a very homely and comforting space to be in for these short and welcoming times of worship.

Held at Marystowe, this is a festal Communion Service to mark Advent Sunday 2025. Advent Sunday is the Church's "New Year's Day" so join us from all around the benefice and beyond as we begin the quiet Advent journey to Christmas and light our first Advent Candle. The infamous Sydenham Damerel Christmas Quiz, an evening of music, song, film, and a few tricky questions, will be on Saturday the 6th of December at 7pm in St Mary’s. The entrance fee is £6 per person and as usual the proceeds will be split between St Mary’s and the Devon Air Ambulance.

The capacity of St Mary’s is limited to 9 quiz teams of 6. Last year we had 9 teams enter and this year it is possible we will exceed the capacity as I have been approached by a couple of new teams wanting a place on the quiz.

Four of the 9 tables will be reserved for the previous year’s winning team and teams entered by those that help with the quiz and all the other events during the year. That leaves five tables available which, if we are oversubscribed, will be allocated by ballot.

If you would like to enter a team for the quiz, can you let me know by the 15th of November and tell me how many people are likely to be in your team. I will draw the successful teams out of a hat on Sunday the 16th of November.

This is a popular event every year but this is our first Crib & Christingle with Rev Gill. Come and see what it's all about. All ages welcome. Christingles prepared at Lamerton C E Primary School in advance.

Each month we gather in St Peter's Church, Lamerton, for Holy Communion. We pray for the world and our community, sing hymns, listen to bible readings, and commemorate the Eucharist. The service is followed by refreshments in the Priest Room (the beautiful ancient building at the gate to the churchyard).

Everyone welcome: This is a service for all, so please do not worry about children or babies being noisy. They are very welcome. If you want to come but want an extra pair of hands, do just ask. Our volunteers are all DBS checked and undergo regular safeguarding training (many of them volunteer in local schools).

The Communion: The service of Holy Communion is open to all. If you do not normally receive communion you are very welcome to come up for a prayer of blessing. The priest goes to the seats of anyone who cannot come to the altar. If you require gluten free, it would be helpful if either you could let us know in advance or, more simply, just bring a tiny square of your own GF bread in a little bit of foil, so that it can be consecrated alongside the wafers, whilst kept separate. If you have a severe allergy please do let us know so that the full additional precautions can be taken.

Access: The main churchyard entrance has steps, so if you need assistance accessing St Peter's, please do let us know so we can try the alternative route. It is also okay to turn up and we will always help as far as we can.
