Doubly Thankful Service

Occurring
for 1 hour
Venue
St Peter's Langton Herring
Address
Church Hill Langton Herring Weymouth, DT3 4HU, United Kingdom

Every year we commemorate the fact that all of the villagers who served in the armed forces in the World Wars returned safely. Langton Herring is unique in Dorset for this reason, and one of only 13 places in the UK, which is why we do not have a war memorial in the village.
This year as we remember the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII there will be a special Thanksgiving service on Sunday September 21st at 10 a.m. when we will remember all of those men and women who returned and give thanks for our local community.
There will be information on many of those individuals who lived in the village in the past on display, and we hope you will come and join us. After the service we will have coffee/tea and cake in the village hall.

St Peter's Langton Herring

You are always welcome here, whether you are just passing through, or locally based. St Peter’s is a small Grade II listed building located in the centre of the picturesque village of Langton Herring, next to the Elm Tree Inn and the Village Hall. There is a sense of the sacred in this quiet, tranquil place for those seeking solitude, to pray, or the opportunity to simply sit quietly for a while. It is only 20 minutes on foot to the Fleet Lagoon behind Chesil Bank - a 17-mile stretch of shingle and a National Nature Reserve, itself a special unique place.

Services are held regularly and alternate each week, from more traditional 'prayer book' communion services and hymns to more informal reflective times, or family praise with worship songs and readings. Feel free to wander around our churchyard too.
