Rogationtide Service

Occurring
for 1 hour
Venue
Brokerswood: All Saints
Address
Fairwood Road Brokerswood, BA13 4EJ, United Kingdom

We are having a special service for Rogation Sunday at the Tin Church, Brokerswood on 25th May at 6.00 pm.

Rogationtide was given this name from the words in the Prayerbook gospel: Whatever you ask the
Father in my name, He will give you (from the Latin – “to ask”).

Traditionally, processions took place around the fields, to bless the crops and to beat the “bounds” of the parish. Rogation takes place in the spring time, between Easter and Pentecost. It reminds us of our responsibility to look after God’s earth; to reflect on our relationship with the natural order and how we are meant to be good stewards or managers of the land and all that is in it. Part our responsibility as Eco Churches, is to be reminded of these concerns and raise our awareness of our concerns for the natural world.

Safeguarding

Our parish of Dilton Marsh & Brokerswood is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Salisbury’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO Yvette Croft [email protected], 07460 451770, or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor please telephone Mrs Suzy Futcher and Mr Jem (Jeremy) Carter, 07500 664800.
