The parish of Winsley includes the village itself and the communities of Conkwell, Haugh, Murhill and Turleigh. Within the village, St Nicholas has a good relationship with Winsley Methodist church, sharing several services a year, and Winsley primary school has strong links with the church. Dorothy House Hospice is in Winsley village and the Avon Park residential complex is just outside.
Youth activities are run on Friday evenings (The Meeting Place youth club for secondary age group). The monthly Sunbeams (for pre-school children and their carers’) is on a Wednesday morning.
Sunday services are varied. Each month there will be Parish or Family Communion, or Morning Worship or cafe-style Refresh (usually held in the School) services. The Benefice worships together when there is a 5th Sunday in the month, using a different church each time.
The church can seat 200 people and is used by local groups for concerts. Opposite the church is the church hall; with kitchen, toilets and a small car park it is well used by local groups.
Architectural evidence suggests there has been a church on this site since the early Norman period. The three stage tower is dated to the 15th century but the remainder of the church was rebuilt in 1841.
The parish is part of the Benefice of North Bradford-on-Avon and Villages, along with the parishes of Christ Church (Bradford-on-Avon), St James (South Wraxall) and St Peter (Monkton Farleigh).
