St Matthews Church, Rowde

Welcome to our Church!

This Grade II* listed building and its churchyard are places of beauty. There has been a church on this site at least from the time of the first recorded Rector in 1326. By 1400 AD the church, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, was rebuilt and all that remains of the 15th Century building is the tower. In 1833, the church was re-dedicated to St Matthew. The south and north aisles were added in 1860, and in 1871 a new north porch was added. ​

Everyone is welcome to all the services and events listed here.

St Matthews is also open every day from 10am to 4pm.  Do come and visit us.

for 1 hour

The first of two talks on local/family/military history given by Michael Cornwell, former Chairman of the Rifles and the Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regimental Association. This talk will concentrate on the First World War and earlier.Light refreshments provided. No charge for entry, but donations in aid of church funds welcomed.
