The Arts at St George's central aim is to produce a year round programme of Arts events including an annual Arts Festival for the benefit of the community of Beckenham and its surrounding areas, enabling St George's Church to be a valued resource for the whole community for more details visit the website - https://stgeorgesarts.co.uk/
We also run Friday 12.30pm and Saturday 11.00am recital programme for the community see website - https://stgeorgesbeckenham.co.uk/music/weekly-recitals/

The organ of St George’s is a large four-manual instrument, with full resources in the English cathedral style. It is a notable instrument in London and features heavily not just in the liturgy of the church including choral accompaniment, but also as a recital instrument. Organists from all over the world come to play.

The original instrument was built in 1887 by Forster and Andrews and has undergone several overhauls and upgrades since then. In 1984 Kenneth James rebuilt and extended the instrument adding the fourth manual amongst other major tonal revisions. In 2003 Martin Cross installed a booster blower and windchest, and new pipework for the Tuba stop.

The choir of St George’s is well-known locally, nationally and internationally. We sing two fully choral services on Sundays and for major weekday festivals, it has a long history specialising in singing the services in the country’s major cathedrals when their choirs are on holiday, in broadcasting and in international touring. The repertoire is vast, and is based on that of a cathedral choir.

The choir is comprised of auditioned volunteer adults who in many cases are professional musicians, teachers and ex professional singers. Many work in London and the surrounding areas, and several travel some distance on a regular basis to be a member of the choir. Auditions are held regularly by appointment - contact the parish office to enquire.
