Our Building

Cuxton parish church is a Grade: I listed building, dedicated to Saint Michael and All Angels. The Normans built it in the 12th century with extensions and additions in the following two centuries culminating in the construction of the west tower around 1400.

Church and Hall have Heating.

There is a book/ CD/ DVD/Card stall in the Church Hall. Donations for Church Funds.

Sanctuary
-Three-light stained glass windows, depicting the Ascension ("Christ In Majesty With Saints"). 1866
-Stained Glass Window depicting a scene from the Book of Revelation, showing St. Michael defeating Satan in the form of a dragon. Installed in 1866 by the Covent Garden firm of Lavers and Barraud and designed by John Milner Allen.
Tower
-Victorian two-light stained glass window, text from Psalm 30 v.5 (1662 Book of Common Prayer).

Music and Worship

Come along to a practice night- 7.30-9pm every Wednesday evening at St. Michael's, Cuxton EXCEPT 7.30-9pm last Wednesday in every month at St. John's Halling.

Halling Sinfonia - The Wind Dectet with Flutes, Oboes, Clarinets, French Horns and Bassoons.

The church organ, which was built and installed by the firm of Forster and Andrews of Hull in 1881. It was the successor to a barrel organ intended for (but never installed in) a wooden gallery while once ran across the north-western end of the Norman nave. The gallery, installed in 1839, was removed when the archway to the tower was created as part of Canon Shaw's Victorian renovation work.

The Church Choir meet every Sunday and rehearse after the Eucharist service at 11am. All welcome to join and support the choir.

Remembrance Day Service on Sunday 9th November, welcomes all the different community groups such as the Cubs, Brownies and Guides to pay their respects at the Marble tablets commemorating the men of Cuxton who lost their lives in service during the WW1 and WW2.

Cuxton and Halling MU Branch meet monthly in the Church Hall. International links with Trinidad & Tobago families. Hosting families and trips abroad. The MU are also involved with a range of voluntary work alongside PACT, women's refuge and other charities.
