Halling Church continues to welcome an increasing number of visitors from across the UK and around the world as Walking the Pilgrims' Way grows in popularity.

On Sunday 14th June we were delighted to welcome Leigh Hatts, author and journalist behind Walking the Pilgrims' Way, who visited the church to explore its history and meet members of our community, including Keith from the Historical Society, whose informative history leaflets have enhanced the experience of so many visitors.

Pilgrims following the ancient route from Winchester to Canterbury are discovering Halling Church as one of its highlights. Many come with their Pilgrim Passports, eager to collect stamps along the way. To help them, pilgrimage stamps are now available at Halling Church, The Five Bells and Jo's Café, ensuring walkers can record their visit even when the church is closed.

Visitors are especially drawn to our remarkable 13th-century medieval wall paintings, among the church's most treasured historic features. Combined with the beauty of the surrounding chalk downs, ancient woodlands and riverside landscape, Halling offers a memorable stop on this iconic pilgrimage route.

The growing interest in pilgrimage is not only celebrating our rich heritage but also strengthening the connections between faith, history, nature and community. We look forward to welcoming many more pilgrims and visitors in the months and years ahead.
