St Lawrence's Church in Mereworth is a thriving and growing church in a semi-rural village. As well as traditional BCP services (Mattins and Communion), we use Common Worship for all our family services, and there is a large Children's Choir with 29 children on the register and a dedicated children's Choirmaster.
The church gather every sunday at 9.30 with refreshments served after every service.
The church welcomes all, from new babies to elderly grandparents, married or single, homeless or heeled. We come together before God with all our failings and skills, and kneel before His presence alongside each other.
The Parish of St Lawrence's Mereworth is committed to implementing the House of Bishops’ safeguarding policies and good practice guidance. All members of the PCC and all those involved in the teaching, training or care of children have undergone DBS screening and completed safeguarding training according to their level of responsibility and following the guidance of the Church of England. A formal statement to adopt the House of Bishops’ “Promoting a Safer Church; safeguarding policy statement” was agreed by the Parochial Church Council and recorded in the minutes of the meeting following the APCM in 2018, and will be renewed again following the APCM in April 2019.
The training the PCC underwent included awareness of domestic violence and vulnerable adults. Rev'd Pat Dickin has undergone further training on the care of victims of Domestic Abuse.
