About Us

St Thomas' is a friendly and inclusive church with an informal Catholic style of worship. We have been serving this part of Hackney since 1827 and our church is a Grade II listed building. Bomb damage during World War II destroyed much of the old church and the rebuilt church celebrated its dedication in 1958. Our congregation is multicultural and includes all ages. From October 2006 it has disabled access. The main act of worship is the parish Eucharist at 10.30 am on Sundays (all-age on the first Sunday of each month). Junior Church for ages four and up meets during the service. Refreshments are served after church. We value the contribution of young people in leading worship and planning many other activities. Our hall and crypt are used regularly by a parent-run nursery, a child contact centre and a martial arts school.
