Snods Edge Church

Snods Edge church - Shotley St John, if we're being formal - doesn't fit categories easily: a rural church with a congregation of several dozen drawn from the parish and well beyond; a mixture of styles of worship and of all kinds of people. What holds us together is the aspiration to be a place that welcomes everyone in the name of Jesus Christ and that works to grow together as a community worshipping him. Please join us for worship at 10:45 every Sunday.

We are currently 'in vacancy' - that is, between vicars - and are hoping to appoint a new vicar to serve our parish, along with our neighbours in Blanchland, Edmundbyers and Muggleswick, later in 2024.

Sunday worship

Occurring
Every Sunday at for 1 hour
Venue
Snods Edge Church
Address
Snods Edge, Shotley Bridge, DH8 9TJ, United Kingdom

We meet for worship at 10:45am every Sunday of the year.

On most Sundays we celebrate the Eucharist (using Common Worship Order One). But during our current ministerial vacancy, on the third Sunday of each month we offer a Service of the Word instead.

We cannot at the moment offer any dedicated children's sessions or Sunday School, but we are very used to, and delighted by, having children of any age in church, and if their attention wanders there are some resources at the back which you are very welcome to explore with them.

Please join us outside the Church Hall for tea, coffee and something tasty after each week's service.

Safeguarding

Like the Church of England as a whole, we as a parish are committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops' guidance and policies (https://www.churchofengland.org/sites/default/files/2019-05/PromotingSaferChurchWeb.pdf); our Parish Safeguarding Officer is Mrs Ursula Martell, who can be reached on [email protected]. The Diocese of Newcastle’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA). If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
