Merriott Benefice

Welcome to the Merriott Benefice — we're so glad you've found us. We serve six wonderful churches across this corner of Somerset: Merriott, Hinton St George, Dinnington, Lopen, Haselbury Plucknett and North Perrott. Each has its own history, character, and community woven around it, yet together we're one family of faith, worship, friendship and care for one another.

Our churches:

  • All Saints, Merriott
  • All Saints, Lopen
  • St Nicholas, Dinnington
  • St Georges, Hinton St George
  • St Martins Church, North Perrott - www.northperrottchurch.co.uk
  • St Michael and All Angels, Crewkerne

Wherever you're starting from — a regular worshipper, someone marking a special moment in life, or simply curious about what goes on in your local church — you'll find a warm welcome across all six of our churches.

On this site, you'll find everything from service times, news, our Church Link magazine, details on christenings, weddings and bereavement support, our choir, safeguarding information, and the local charities and causes we support together. Do explore, and when you're ready, visit each church's own page to find out more about what's happening in that village.

With love and prayers,

Julia and Bob

Safeguarding

All parishes within the Merriott Benefice are committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). The Diocese of Bath & Wells’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact our PSO. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.

We take safeguarding seriously in our community. Please see contact details for each church within our benefice for the appropriate Safeguarding person, or contact Bob and Julia if you have any concerns, or want to talk an issue through with someone, please get in touch.
