About The Six Benefice

Rooted in our villages. Growing in faith. Sharing God’s love.

Across the beautiful countryside of North Kent, between Sittingbourne and Rainham, lie six village parishes, each with its own history, character and traditions. Together, with seven congregations, we form The Six Benefice.

For centuries, our churches have stood quietly at the heart of their communities. Generations have gathered within their walls to celebrate new life, give thanks, make promises, seek comfort in times of sorrow, and find stillness in the midst of busy lives.

They remind us that, through all the changes life brings, some things endure: the human need for love, hope, belonging and a sense of something greater than ourselves.

We believe that God is present in the ordinary moments of life, and that his love is made known most clearly through Jesus Christ.

As a family of churches, we are learning what it means to live that love in our villages today. Sometimes it is expressed through worship and prayer; sometimes through friendship, a listening ear, practical kindness, or simply being there when someone needs us.

We don’t pretend to have all the answers. Faith is a journey of discovery, with room for questions, uncertainty, wonder and growth. What draws us together is the hope that, as we follow Jesus, our lives and our communities can be changed for the better.

Our seven congregations have different traditions and ways of worshipping, but we share a common desire: to be communities where people are welcomed, valued and encouraged to flourish.

We cherish our ancient church buildings, but we know that the heart of the Church is not made of stone. It is found in people, in relationships, and in the love we share.

Whether you have deep roots in the Christian faith, are beginning to ask spiritual questions, or simply feel a connection with one of our village churches, we hope you will discover something of that love among us.

These are your village churches, and you are always welcome.
