Churchyards

All requests for memorial stonework (e.g. for ashes plaque, a headstone, or changes to wording) fall within a statutory framework.  Requests must go through the Vicar who can guide you through the process.  Normally, if you approach a monumental mason, they will often make the application for you, or can point you in the right direction regarding what is possible.  The rules for churchyard memorials are tighter than for cemeteries, as churchyards come under Listing (Faculty system) protection.  Please download our churchyards guide for the bereaved below.

We'll be putting more information on this page shortly but, in the meantime, please take a moment to look at Caring For God's Acre – the conservation charity for burial grounds across the UK – Protecting Wildlife, Preserving Heritage, Involving People .

If you have an enquiry about any of our churchyards or headstones and monuments, please contact Rev Gill George on [email protected].
