Welcome to Whitby Deanery!
Whitby Deanery comprises twenty-six church communities set in the stunning and inspirational landscape of the North York Moors, taking in a sweep of the North Yorkshire Jurassic Coast from Staithes to Robin Hood's Bay.
All our churches have something special about them and represent a continuous Christian presence in the area stretching back over 1,400 years.
Whether you are visiting the area or live here, you will find a warm welcome in all our church communities, where you can discover the great Christian and cultural heritage which makes this part of North Yorkshire so special.
This Sunday – A Shared Service of Holy Communion
Sunday 25 October 2026 at 10.30 am
St Hilda's Church, Church Square, West Cliff, Whitby YO21 3EF
This Sunday, we're coming together from across Whitby Deanery for a special shared service of Holy Communion, celebrating Bible Sunday.
This will be the only Anglican morning service across Whitby Deanery on Sunday 25 October.
It's a lovely opportunity to gather as a wider church family, to worship and pray together, and to share in our faith with people from neighbouring parishes.
Whether you're a regular churchgoer, visiting the area, or simply curious to join us, you'll be very welcome.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Please see below for our regular Deanery prayer gathering and information about our church communities.
Monthly Prayer
Our regular Deanery gathering for Celtic Evening Prayer with the Northumbria Community is held on the first Tuesday of each month at 6 pm, at The Vicarage in Egton, YO21 1UT.
You're very welcome to join us.
