HRH The Duke of Edinburgh
As a mark of respect and with thanksgiving for the life of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and his service to our nation and the Commonwealth, there will be an ‘Act of Remembrance’ at the Town War Memorial in Sheringham at 6.00pm (1800 hrs) on Friday, 16th April.
The bell of St Peter’s Parish Church will toll 99 times at 6.00pm, followed by a two minute silence at the War Memorial, a prayer and blessing. The ‘Act of Remembrance’ will be led by The Reverend Canon Christian Heycocks Royal Navy (Vicar of Sheringham) and Natalie Rees (Ordinand at St Peter’s) and attended by the Councillor Madeleine Ashcroft (Mayor of Sheringham), representing Sheringham Town Council.
People in Sheringham are encouraged to stand on their doorsteps at 6.00pm to listen to the bell and then keep the silence, if they wish. The prayer that will be read at the War Memorial can be found below and can be used at the conclusion of the silence.
Social distancing rules remain in place at this time, with groups of up to 6 or two households allowed to gather in public spaces. All social distancing must be observed.
A Prayer for HRH The Duke of Edinburgh
