Weddings

If you are engaged and looking to be married, then congratulations! This is a very special time, and if you are considering a church wedding at St Peter's, then we are delighted to be of support.

A church wedding is so much more than just a venue to be married in. A church wedding adds a really spiritual dimension to your marriage. During a church wedding ceremony, we look to God for guidance and help, as well as for blessings, not just for your special day but for the life of marriage you are both embarking upon.

During a church ceremony, you make vows (or promises) to one another in front of God and your family and friends. Only in a church are the vows this big!

The clergy blend ancient tradition and modern experience to reflect your story in the wedding ceremony. It can be made personal, meaningful, and extra special, too.

The Church of England has an online tool to help you begin planning a wedding ceremony:

To be married in a Church of England church, you need either to live in the parish or have what is called a 'qualifying connection'. If you have questions about this, please just get in touch.

Same-Sex Couples

St Peter's Church actively campaigns for the recognition of full equal marriage within the Church of England. Unfortunately, we aren't there yet. However, our PCC has approved and affirmed what's called the Prayers of Love and Faith. This means we can offer blessings to same-sex couples during a regular church service. The Prayers of Love and Faith allow us to use special readings and prayers to mark and give thanks to God for your love for one another.

If you would like to talk about this process, then please do get in touch. We would be delighted to help you celebrate your love for one another.
