The Mission Hall is part of the Parish of Abbeydore (Holy Trinity & St Mary's Abbeydore - Dore Abbey - www.doreabbey.org.uk) in the Black Mountains Group of Parishes.

Cockyard Mission Hall was a blacksmith’s forge and shop until the occupant, Mr Hancocks, moved his business to Hungerford shortly after the end of the First World War.

The Cockyard Mission Hall, owned by Whitfield Estate, is now sadly at risk of collapse and beyond repair. After a meeting with Ted and Tamsin Clive, the Whitfield estate land agents, David and Sue Cook who have cared for the hall for many years, Rev Luci Morriss and the churchwardens, it was decided the hall should no longer host services due to safety concerns. 

A final Thanksgiving and Celebration service was held outside the Mission Hall on Sunday, 16 August attended by many local people. We shared stories of its history and most importantly the people who have lovingly cared for the building over the years, who have cut the grass, cleaned and decorated the hall, led services there and provided tea and cake after services.  People like Nellie Price and Dorothy Cook were remembered with gratitude. We heard memories from Jo Denyer and Ted Clive and others. We thanked Margaret Mantle, David and Sue Cook for all they have givn to the Cockyard Mission Hall.
