The small congregation at St Peter’s is very welcoming, and we would love to see you at our services. The worship is carefully prepared but fairly informal in tone, and aims to be inclusive – we would like everyone to feel at home here. At this service all are welcome to receive the bread and the wine if it is your usual practice, or you can come forward to receive a blessing. We use the practise of intinction, which means dipping the wafer into the wine. As part of this service there will be a number of hymns, two bible readings and a sermon.

Following the service, tea, coffee and biscuits will be served for all to enjoy.

Holy Communion with focus on Healing. A shortened service of Holy Communion with an opportunity to be anointed with oil for healing. During the prayers we particularly pray for those on our pew notes especially those who have asked for our prayers over a longer period whose names appear on the prayer tree. As always, if you are uncomfortable with receiving anointing or communion there is no pressure to do so.

Morning Prayer - St Peter's

This is a simple service of morning prayer, modern language version from Common Worship. With hymns, two readings, psalm (said) and a sermon. After the main service you can stay on for a round-table discussion over coffee, tea and home made cake.

Contemplative Prayer Group

Monthly. Every Second Monday at for 45 mins

We meet on the second Monday of each month at 11am. We are using a pattern of prayer used by the Fellowship of Contemplative Prayer (http://www.contemplative-prayer.org.uk/). Each session begins with relaxation, followed by an introduction to the saying for the day which is a short sentence of scripture. This saying is repeated as a mantra in three sections of about 7-8 minutes: first thinking about the saying, second allowing the saying to ‘speak’ to the heart and the third in which we use the saying to pray for others. The session ends with a final prayer. There is no pressure to share anything or to pray aloud. We finish at 11.45. Everyone welcome.

Tickets are £15 per person and available from The Draycott Community Shop or the Strawberry Special Inn.

Tickets include: A choice of curry and rice, poppadoms, pickle, bhaji and naan bread, followed by a choice of desserts.

Cheddar Village Hall

This is an advance notice of a significant event that will be happening in the Benefice in the Autumn and New Year. We will holding an Alpha Course in Cheddar Village Hall. An Alpha Course, which you may have already heard of, is an opportunity to explore the basics of our Christian faith. It is a tried and tested course having been held in many places in this country and around the world.

This is an opportunity for our church members to bring friends who would like to know more about our faith and indeed anyone who is interested.
We will be meeting on Sunday evenings, with 6 sessions starting on 1st November and then 5 further sessions from 10th January. The sessions in January will include a Saturday away day at Bagley Baptist church. Each session will start with a meal, followed by a film on the subject for the evening and then opportunity for discussion.

There will be further details in September but in the meantime please note the dates, consider joining the course and bringing a friend. Above all we need to be praying for all aspects of this venture.
